The Technology Transfer Directorate of the Italian Institute of Technology is responsible for the Technology Transfer processes within the overall strategies of the Foundation, interacting with Research Units and Network Centers. It formulates strategies and proposes continuous evolution and necessary adjustments and updates to meet the changing needs of the high-tech market.
The Technology Transfer team is responsible for the exploitation of the Foundation's intellectual property (IP) through activities such as transfer, licensing, etc., as well as fundraising activities, particularly in establishing startups. They also handle contract and commercial agreement management. The team is accountable for creating a national and international network of companies and investors for IIT, to enhance the intellectual property and technological findings developed by IIT.
The Technology Transfer Directorate supports research units and Network Centers in determining criteria and procedures for obtaining patents and managing the related portfolio.
